There has been some misunderstanding within the diving industry regarding appropriate Oxygen-cleaning agents. A common dishwashing liquid or general purpose household cleaner may not be simply substituted for an approved cleaner. There are many excellent cleaner / degreaser products available. Some will remove grease and oil but not paraffins, waxes or lacquers. Some work well on steel (hydrochloric acid-based products) but react adversely with aluminum and brass. Others work well on brass and copper but poorly on steel (sodium carbonate-based products). Merely observing that a detergent apparently works well is not enough.

Only the product’s manufacturer can specify if the product is approved for Oxygen-cleaning purposes and which materials it may contact.

Blue Gold Cleaner is approved for our specific purposes of regulator, cylinder and valve cleaning for high-pressure Oxygen service.
